Vitamix Issues a Recall for Nearly 570,000 Blender Parts

Vitamix has broadened its recall of certain blender parts due to potential deep-cutting hazards, affecting models priced as much as $990. However, the company clarified that affected customers should not anticipate money back.
Following numerous reports of lacerations caused by exposed blades, Vitamix has initiated a recall of approximately 569,000 blending containers and blade bases used in its high-powered blenders. This recall adds to the previous extensive recall carried out in 2018 for some of the market’s priciest and most renowned blenders.
According to the recall notice, the blending container may detach from the blade base, potentially exposing the blades. Vitamix has received reports of lacerations from 27 individuals, including 11 incidents reported during a 2018 recall that impacted over 100,000 units.
Vitamix is advising all affected customers to stop using the recalled parts immediately and to get in touch with the company for a repair kit. The kit includes a protective plastic shroud to cover the blade base, along with detailed instructions. However, Vitamix has clarified that replacements or refunds are not being offered.
Collaborating with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to assess potential solutions, the company put together the repair kit as the agreed-upon remedy to rectify the problem.
In a statement, the company said, “Vitamix’s top priority is the safety of its customers. To ensure Vitamix has a well-built product, Vitamix products undergo extensive testing, leveraging the 130+ test procedures in Vitamix’s catalog to assess every component for quality and durability.”
The recall said, “The clear containers and black blade bases are included with certain Vitamix Venturist and Ascent Series blenders, such as the Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, Ascent A2500, Ascent A3300, and Ascent A3500 blenders; and also sold separately, as sets, or bundles in various configurations.”
From April 2017 to May 2024, the high-end blenders were available for purchase at Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy’s, Target, Williams Sonoma, Walmart, and specialty stores. Amazon, Vitamix, and QVC were among the online retailers where these blenders were also available to buy.
