EverPass Media Brings NFL Sunday Ticket to Bars and Restaurants
July 2, 2024
EverPass Media, a joint venture between the NFL and RedBird Capital Partners, is set to revolutionize how fans watch NFL games in bars, restaurants, and other commercial establishments. With the acquisition of UPshow, a marketing platform that facilitates live sports streaming, EverPass Media will stream NFL Sunday Ticket to commercial venues for the first time starting with the 2024 season.
The move to streaming is a win for both fans and businesses. With DirecTV no longer the sole distributor, EverPass Media is well-positioned to offer a comprehensive solution that enhances the NFL viewing experience in bars and restaurants. This development aligns with the increasing migration of live sports to streaming services, offering fans more accessibility and businesses more opportunities to attract patrons.
Derek Chang, EverPass’ executive chairman, emphasized the importance of this transition, stating that the combination of UPshow’s technology and EverPass’ expanding content library will enable it to become the leading live sports and entertainment platform for commercial establishments. This shift is expected to provide a dynamic and evolving viewing experience for fans while empowering business owners with more flexible entertainment options.
EverPass Media’s momentum is further bolstered by a strategic investment from TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of UFC and WWE. Mark Shapiro, TKO’s president and COO, will join the EverPass board, bringing additional expertise and resources to the venture. EverPass CEO Alex Kaplan highlighted the significance of this partnership, noting that the combined support of RedBird, the NFL, and TKO will drive technological advancements and content expansion.
This marks a significant shift from the traditional satellite service provided by DirecTV, which was previously the only option for commercial establishments to access Sunday Ticket. EverPass Media’s move toward streaming reflects a broader trend in the sports broadcasting industry, where streaming services are becoming the preferred method of content delivery. By leveraging UPshow’s technology, EverPass aims to enhance the out-of-home viewing experience, offering business owners greater control over their entertainment offerings.
