Trader Joe’s claims the candles pose a fire risk.

Trader Joe’s Recalls Popular Candle Over Safety Concerns

July 5, 2024

Trader Joe’s has announced a recall over a popular candle sold in the stores nationwide, claiming that the candle poses a fire safety risk.

The popular Mango Tangerine Scented Candle is being recalled due to its “larger-than-expected flame” and that it “may have an unexpected burn pattern,” according to the official release announcing its recall.

“If you purchased the Mango Tangerine Scented Candle, please do not use it,” the company continued. “We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”

Customers with questions or issues are urged to call the corporate customer support line at 626-599-3817.

Trader Joe’s has issued a number of recalls in 2023 and 2024 for a variety of reasons. Back in March, the company issued a recall for cashew nuts that were sold in 16 states.

“We are recalling Trader Joe’s 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews (SKU# 37884),” the company said in a press release at the time. “The product may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported to date.”

Customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington were all affected by the cashew recall.

Salmonella is “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Then, in February, Rio-López Foods issued a nationwide recall for dairy goods, including cotija cheese, that were sold in Trader Joe’s stores. These consist of Southwest Salad, Elote Chopped Salad Kit, Cilantro Salad Dressing, and Chicken Enchiladas Verde from Trader Joe’s.

Additionally, due to potential plastic contamination, CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corporation recalled about 61,839 pounds of steamed chicken soup dumplings at the start of March 2024.

The company conducted a product recall in 2023 as a result of possible Listeria monocytogenes. Due to undisclosed milk and walnuts, Bakkavor USA voluntarily recalled its Genova Pesto. The business also recalled its Almond Windmill Cookies because they can contain rocks.
