Chipotle Brings Back a Fan-Favorite Menu Item for a Limited Time. Here’s How To Get It

September 11, 2024

Chipotle has announced that it is bringing back a fan-favorite menu item for a limited time. The Mexican-style fast-food restaurant is making the item available in both the United States and Canada. Let’s take a look at some more details as to where you can get this item.

Chipotle Brings Back Smoked Brisket

In a press release announcement, it was revealed that Chipotle has brought back the smoked brisket as of Tuesday, Sept. 10. After being launched three years ago, Chipotle’s smoked brisket has continued to be a popular menu item that consumers want to see brought back year after year.

Nevielle Panthaky, vice president of culinary, suggests a Smoked Brisket Burrito Bowl with white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, and cheese for those who are interested in eating smoked brisket for the first time.

The Smoked Brisket isn’t your typical brisket experience. Rich flavor layers are created using traditional cooking methods, perfectly complementing the real, fresh ingredients used by the brand. This culinary innovation, which uses beef that has been responsibly raised, is grilled and seasoned with chipotle and smoked serrano chile peppers. The protein is completed with a flavorful brisket sauce created with smoky chili peppers after being hand-chopped into juicy, tender bits. Fans can now enjoy their favorite dish in a whole new way thanks to Smoked Brisket, which is made in small amounts throughout the day to ensure freshness.

“We are listening to our guests and bringing this fan-favorite menu innovation out of the vault after three years,” said Chris Brandt, chief brand officer, in a statement accompanying the press release. “This premium protein is sure to delight guests looking to taste the difference of brisket prepared the Chipotle way.”

For all orders of Smoked Brisket placed through the app or on the website, there will be no delivery fees from Thursday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 29, in the United States and Canada.

Who Needs Portion Control?

Over the summer, Chipotle acknowledged that some of its sites were underserving consumers, but it added that it had recommitted to serving “generous portions.”

“There was never a directive to provide less to our customers,” said then-chairman and CEO Brian Niccol, who has since moved on to become the CEO of Starbucks. “‘Generous portion’ is a core brand equity of Chipotle. It always has been, and it always will be.”

Niccol issued the statement in response to the social media outcry that followed a May 3 video in which online food critic and former Chipotle employee Keith Lee, who has over 16 million followers on TikTok, gave unsatisfactory reviews for a bowl and a quesadilla, pointing out, in particular, the small portions.

“Where the chicken at?” he said. “This is how you know I’m not lying. I’m literally looking for a piece of chicken.”

Additionally, Wells Fargo analysts ordered 75 of the same burrito bowls from eight Chipotle restaurants in New York City and weighed each one. They discovered that portions “varied widely.” In comparison to other outlets, certain locations sold bowls with identical orders that weighed almost 33% more.

Niccol said during an analyst call that he did some introspection as a result of the backlash. According to an internal inquiry based on customer surveys, 10% of the company’s nearly 3,500 restaurants were found to be “outliers” when it came to serving quantities, and as a result, they needed to be retrained to the “right standards.”

“We have also leaned in and reemphasized generous portions across all of our restaurants, as it is a core brand equity of Chipotle,” Niccol stated at the time. “Our guests expect this now more than ever, and we are committed to making this investment to reinforce that Chipotle stands for a generous amount of delicious, fresh food at fair prices for every customer, every visit.”
