How Wendy’s Is Winning the ‘Fast-Food Wars’ With 1-Cent Cheeseburgers & Fun Promotions
September 16, 2024
Wendy’s is quickly emerging as the unofficial winner of the so-called “fast-food wars” with its upcoming 1-cent cheeseburger promotion in honor of National Cheeseburger Day. This promotion is the latest in a series of fun promotions released by the fast-food giant, including Halloween-themed deals. Let’s take a look at everything we know about Wendy’s latest offerings.
Wendy’s 1-Cent Cheeseburgers for National Cheeseburger Day
According to Allrecipes, in honor of National Cheeseburger Day, Wendy’s is selling Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers for just 1 cent. But the chain isn’t just celebrating for one day — you’ll have almost a full week to take advantage of this offer, so don’t worry if you can’t make it to the drive-thru on the actual National Cheeseburger Day (Sept. 18). From Wednesday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 22, customers can add a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger to any purchase at participating Wendy’s restaurants nationwide for only a penny.
This is your chance to try the fast-food giant’s Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger if you haven’t before. Featuring a beef patty heaped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, and mayonnaise, this well-liked menu item is the ideal burger to commemorate National Cheeseburger Day.
The caveat is that fans must download the Wendy’s app to take advantage of this offer, as it is only available through the app. The app is an excellent method to reduce costs if you frequently visit Wendy’s. With regular upgrades, Wendy’s Rewards provides a plethora of discounts on beverages, sides, and even breakfast to help you save money each time you use the drive-thru.
Frosty the 13th
The 1-cent cheeseburger is just the latest promotion offered by the fast-food chain. Last week, the company announced another batch of promotions with a Halloween theme, including “Frosty the 13th.”
According to a press release, on Friday, Sept. 13, Wendy’s Rewards members received a $1 small Frosty and a free order of any size Hot & Crispy Fries with any purchase made using the app. The promotion was appropriately titled “Frosty the 13th.”
In addition, the massive fast-food chain is giving football fans fuel for the entire season this year with the $5 Big Noon Saucy Deal, which is exclusively accessible via the website or app. Fans can purchase a small soft drink, some Hot & Crispy fries, and a six-piece Saucy Nuggs in one of seven different varieties for $5. Additionally, fans placing orders through the Wendy’s app this autumn will benefit from zero-dollar delivery fees on Saturdays, which is sure to result in some financial savings.
News of the discount Frosty comes hot on the heels of the recent announcement of the return of the fan-favorite Vanilla Frosty.
The well-liked Vanilla Frosty, which Wendy’s temporarily stopped serving in March, has returned. To make room for the relaunched flavor, Wendy’s has eliminated the Triple Berry flavor from its menu. The standard Chocolate Frosty is still available in addition to the Vanilla Frosty.
When the first Wendy’s opened in 1969, there were only five menu items, and the Chocolate Frosty was one of them. Following the addition of the Vanilla Frosty to the menu in 2006, Wendy’s introduced the Strawberry Frosty as its second Frosty innovation in the U.S. market. Since then, Wendy’s has added seasonal flavors to their menu, such as the Pumpkin Spice Frosty, Peppermint Frosty, and Orange Dreamsicle Frosty. The Vanilla Frosty is removed from rotation whenever a new flavor is added.
Fans are happy to have vanilla back for the time being, even though it’s unclear how long it will be accessible or if it will be another limited-edition item until the next seasonal flavor is launched.
“FINALLY,” one commenter wrote on food blogger Markie Devo’s Instagram post, while another stated, “This should have never left.”
