YouTube’s New AI Tools Could Improve Business Marketing Strategies

September 19, 2024

YouTube is introducing several new AI features to make it easier for marketers to promote products and services. Announced during the Made on YouTube event on Wednesday, video makers got a preview of various new tools set to be released in the next few months.

With the help of artificial intelligence and an “Inspiration Tab,” video makers will soon be able to create unique video backgrounds and get recommendations for titles, thumbnails, and outlines customized to users’ styles. With distinctive video backgrounds and catchy thumbnails, AI could capture the eyes of potential customers surfing YouTube. Plus, it might even be possible for the AI to generate new ideas for video topics related to a product or service.

“This is not about replacing ideas,” said Sarah Ali, senior director of product at YouTube, per NBC News. “This is about giving you the tools to get you there faster.”

Also coming to the platform is DeepMind’s Veo generative AI video model, developed by Google. To encourage more use of YouTube Shorts, the AI creates six-second video clips, which will be labeled with a SynthID watermark. All the AI needs to make the short-form videos is a text prompt.

A marketer could generate engagement by using the AI to quickly create a video that lists benefits or features of a product or service. Instead of spending hours developing and editing a video, it could potentially take just a few minutes.

YouTube’s video dubbing tool is also getting some AI upgrades. Captions generated with AI will be available in different languages. Marketers could use the tool for improved branding and target audiences in countries that were unreachable before due to language barriers. Another addition will be the ability to mimic the tone and pitch of the original speech in the video.

Earlier this year, YouTube tested a crowdsourced “Notes” feature. The experimental tool adds contextual information, which helps explain and clarify video content for viewers.

AI makes video creation faster and sometimes more engaging, with roughly 92% of creators already using the technology, according to YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. With new and easily accessible AI tools from YouTube, marketers are more likely to adopt the technology to increase and improve brand awareness.
