Burger King’s Addams Family Tie-in: Presenting the Purple-Bun Halloween Whopper

Burger King has tapped into an Addams Family tie-in for a purple-bun Halloween Whopper. This and other creepy creations are available for a limited time during spooky season.

In a press release, the company introduced four new flavors that customers can experience for a limited time. The items on deck include Wednesday’s Whopper, Thing’s Rings, Gomez’s Churro Fries, and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake.

Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer at Burger King North America, stated in the announcement, “Halloween holds a special place in our brand’s history, and we know our guests look forward to seeing what delicious and kooky creations we come up with each year. We know The Addams Family also has an affinity for the scarier things in life, so we’re excited to offer fans not one, but four new takes on their favorite BK products this Halloween season with these Addams Family-inspired creations.”

Nation’s Restaurant News quoted Zahra Nurani, Burger King’s VP of marketing communications, regarding the new menu items. “We did the Ghost Pepper Whopper for two years in a row,” she said. “Our guests are going to get a nice surprise with The Addams Family partnership.”

What Are the Spooky Addams Family Menu Items Available at Burger King?

The seriously spooky Addams Family menu items are all twists on some of the restaurant chain’s beloved recipes. For example, Wednesday’s Whopper includes Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions, all on a toasted purple bun. The purple color of the bun is naturally derived from purple potatoes, and it’s topped with black sesame seeds.

The brand’s crispy onion rings are served in packaging honoring the family’s one-handed helper, Thing. On the menu, they’re called Thing’s Rings.

As for dessert, two sweet treats prominently represent the Addams Family parents. Gomez’s Churro Fries are fried dough sticks coated in sweet cinnamon sugar and served with a chocolate dipping sauce. Add to that Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake, filled with fudge and topped with black and purple cookie pieces, and the sweetness never ends.

These fun and cooky menu offerings are available at participating restaurants starting Thursday, Oct. 10, while supplies last.
