Target Cuts Prices on 2,000 Items Just in Time for the Holidays
October 22, 2024
This holiday shopping season, bargain hunters will likely find some deals at Target. The retail giant is lowering prices on over 2,000 products to help customers “make the most of their budgets.”
The decreased prices won’t just be on Target’s private brands as the cost of some national brand items will also be lowered. Shoppers will find reduced prices on select toys and snacks as well as everyday essentials and holiday gifts.
“We know families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is committed to helping them find joy without compromise — with great products across our assortment at even lower prices,” said Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “From meal prep and gifting to everyday needs, Target’s offering the kind of exceptional value that’ll make it even easier for everyone to save money as they embrace the magic of the season.”
To help consumers reeling from high inflation and stimulate spending, Target announced price reductions on 5,000 products earlier this summer. The company lowered prices on essentials like diapers, pet food, and milk. So far this year, Target has slashed prices on nearly 8,000 items.
Retailers Lowering Prices
Target reducing prices on more items for the holiday season comes on the heels of similar moves from rival retailers. Competitors Walmart and ALDI have both announced price cuts effective until the end of the year.
Last week, Walmart announced the comeback of its “inflation-free” deal. For the rest of 2024, lower prices can be found on holiday staples such as whole turkeys, cranberry sauce, and frozen whipped topping. Walmart estimates that a Thanksgiving dinner would cost less than $7 per person.
According to ALDI, the cost for a Thanksgiving dinner comes out to less than $5 per person based on its holiday price reductions. While availability will vary by store, ALDI shoppers will also get lower prices on items like turkeys, potatoes, and packaged gravy without needing a loyalty card or making a minimum purchase.
