Wendy’s May Be Releasing a ‘Controversial’ Salted Caramel Flavored Frosty

October 30, 2024

Wendy’s may soon be upping the ante on its Frosty flavors, reportedly releasing a “controversial” new flavor that has fans of the popular sweet treat talking.

Mandatory is reporting that in November, the massive fast-food chain will launch a Salted Caramel Frosty. The Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, introduced as part of the restaurant’s 25th-anniversary partnership with SpongeBob SquarePants, will be replaced by the new flavor.

The outlet confirms that the report was first made by popular Instagram blogger Snackolator, who was also one of the first to report on the Under the Sea Frosty.

“The new Frosty might be one of Wendy’s more controversial desserts,” reported the outlet. “While salted caramel has been getting more love recently, it’s far from a universally enjoyed flavor. Additionally, since the Salted Caramel Frosty likely isn’t a syrup or puree mix-in, the vanilla Frosty will probably once again be bowing out to make room for the new flavor after only two months on the menu.”

Wendy’s Latest Frosty Flavor

If Wendy’s does, indeed, drop the Salted Caramel flavored Frosty, it will be the latest flavor of the popular sweet treat that will be available on the menu.

Back in September, they brought back the popular Vanilla Frosty, which had been temporarily discontinued in March. Wendy’s removed the Triple Berry variety from their menu to make room for the relaunched flavor. Alongside the Vanilla Frosty, the regular Chocolate Frosty is still offered.

The Chocolate Frosty was one of just five original menu items offered when the first Wendy’s opened its doors in 1969. The fast-food giant added the Vanilla Frosty to its menu in 2006, but the company didn’t launch another Frosty innovation in the United States until 2022: the Strawberry Frosty.

Since then, the chain has added seasonal varieties like the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty, Peppermint Frosty, and Pumpkin Spice Frosty. The Vanilla Frosty is taken off the menu whenever one of these is added. Many patrons have questioned why this popular item isn’t a regular feature on the menu.
