Dollar General Announces Thanksgiving on a Budget Deals
November 27, 2024
The name “Dollar General” isn’t one that many people think of when it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday, but the discount retailer is getting into the game with its latest announcement.
A company press release revealed its holiday food sales and promotions are intended to make meal preparation more convenient, inexpensive, and nutrient-dense. Serving over 20,000 areas in 48 states, many of which are located in USDA-designated food deserts, the retailer provides various food and ingredient options, including recipes and new festive seasonal baking finds.
Families may purchase holiday essentials from DG’s proprietary brand, Clover Valley, as well as popular national brands like Betty Crocker, Dole, and Nestlé this year.
“At Dollar General, we understand access to nutritious food is critical,” said Allen Warch, vice president and division merchandise manager of food and fresh, in a statement accompanying the press release. “Our team works relentlessly to make healthier options both affordable and accessible for customers and communities. We are proud to exhibit our mission of Serving Others by providing diverse, quality food choices to underserved communities, regardless of their location or economic status.”
In addition to being affordable, Dollar General is dedicated to giving its customers access to fresh ingredients so they can make healthier holiday dishes. Recently, the company partnered with Mary Alice Cain, a nutritionist and registered dietician, to create new seasonal Better For You recipes, like Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans with Crunchy Ramen Topping, Baked Apple Pecan Chicken, and Candied Nuts, all of which cost less than $2.50 per serving.
Latest Dollar General Offering
In recent months, the discount retailer has proved that it is expanding its presence, getting people out of the mindset that it’s little more than a “dollar store.” Over the summer, the store teamed up with country music legend Dolly Parton for a new kitchen and housewares collection.
Emily Taylor, executive VP and chief merchandising officer of Dollar General, said she was thrilled about the partnership, pointing out that both participants had similar modest beginnings.
“Our shared humble beginnings make this a special program for Dollar General,” she said in a statement at the time. “We are thrilled to bring this exclusive collection, curated by one of the most iconic stars in country music, to DG customers.”
