Honda Recalls Over 205,000 SUVs: How To Find Out if Your Car Is Affected
December 6, 2024
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday that Honda would recall about 205,760 SUVs in the United States over a fuel leak issue. In a recent report, the NHTSA shared details of the defect that has the potential to cause fire and/or injury.
The recall affects American-made automobiles and pertains to certain Honda Passport vehicles, built between Feb. 15, 2023, and May 13, 2024, as well as Honda Pilot vehicles produced between Feb. 14, 2023, and May 08, 2024.
Honda was first made aware of the issue on May 13, 2024, when the company first received a warranty claim from a dealer who inspected a vehicle before delivery. By May 20, Honda found six vehicles in their warehouse inventory that had an incomplete fuel filler neck tube to fuel filler pipe connection.
“Some vehicles may have an incomplete connection between the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe. As a result, the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe can separate in the event of a crash, allowing fuel to leak,” the report said.
“If a fuel leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, the risk of a fire and/or injury are increased. During installation of the fuel pipe assembly, an out-of-sequence process prevented the fuel neck tube and fuel filler pipe from forming a complete connection,” the details concluded.

Customers can check to see if their car is under recall by going to nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering their 17-digit vehicle identification number or VIN. If the car has been recalled, customers are advised to bring their automobile to their local dealership to be fixed.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair the affected fuel filler necks and pipes at no cost to the vehicle owners. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters by Jan. 6, 2025.
