Carnival Cruise Line Secretly Hiked Up Internet Prices by Up to 22%

December 15, 2024

Carnival Cruise Line passengers may not have noticed, but the popular cruise line secretly hiked up its Internet prices — and in some cases, by as much as 22%.

According to Cruise Radio, the well-known cruise line secretly raised the prices of all three tiers — Social, Value, and Premium — of its Wi-Fi internet services.

Many cruisers are upset about the pricing hike and the lack of advance notice, as guests now have to pay higher daily rates whether they purchase the packages in advance or onboard.

The Social Wi-Fi Plan experienced the biggest increase, up 22% from its pre-cruise price of $15.30 per day. The daily cost of onboard purchases increased from $18 to $22.

The Value Plan went up from $19.55 before the cruise to $22.10, a 13% increase. Daily charges onboard increased from $23 to $26. The Premium Plan for pre-cruise increased by 12%, from $21.25 to $23.80 per day. Single-day access now costs $35, while the onboard price has risen to $28 per day, a substantial hike from previous rates.

These raises fit into a broader pattern that Carnival Cruise Line has followed for the past two years. In December 2023, Carnival hiked Wi-Fi charges for the second time that year, increasing them by 14%–20%. All plans saw rates rise by 47%–80% between August 2022 and December 2023.

Carnival Cruise Line Brought Back a Beloved Menu Item

Carnival Cruise Line made headlines last week when it put a beloved item back on the menu.

Before it was eliminated in 2023, escargot, a French appetizer consisting of snails sautéed in butter, white wine, and olive oil, was one of the most well-liked shipboard fare for decades. However, it has now triumphantly returned.

Whether you’re a daring eater or just want to try something new once, cruise ships let you test new cuisine without committing. If you initially choose a meal that you don’t like, you can order another one for free.

Carnival Cruise Line’s menu also includes tuna tiradito nikkei, roasted duck buns, braised lamb, frog legs, and Indian specialties. The ships offer several options for cruisers with curious palettes and those seeking well-known favorites.
