JOLT Cola: The Beloved ’80s Beverage Is Back

December 30, 2024

Do you remember JOLT Cola? The beloved ’80s beverage is back after partnering with a sports nutrition powerhouse that promises to introduce a new generation to the bold energy carbonated drink.

REDCON1, which typically produces food products linked to the Sports Nutrition industry, is set to re-introduce a cherished favorite, JOLT Cola, to a new generation of consumers. This deal was facilitated by JOLT Cola’s licensing agency, IMG. This partnership will merge the beloved brand with REDCON1’s modern, high-energy lifestyle image.

“We are excited to partner with IMG to bring back JOLT Cola,” said Aaron Singerman, REDCON1’s founder. “This product holds a special place in the hearts of many, and we are committed to preserving its original essence while enhancing it for today’s consumers.”

Nick Manzo, senior director of licensing at IMG, added, “JOLT Cola is more than just a product; it’s a piece of history. We’re thrilled to have brought JOLT & REDCON1 together to reintroduce this iconic product and celebrate its legacy with both loyal fans and a new generation eager to experience the bold energy of JOLT.”

The press release announcing the partnership states, “The reimagined JOLT product will capitalize on REDCON1’s esteemed reputation for high-performance in its product formulations, delivering exceptional quality, and results. The initial re-introduction of JOLT will feature two exclusive flavors available in 16oz high-performance canned energy, with future extensions in ready-to-drink pre-workout and energy shots.”

JOLT Cola Has More Caffeine, but Is It Safe for Consumers To Drink Regularly?

JOLT Cola joins the ranks of other popular energy drinks marketed for those who desire a quick boost of caffeine. However, these types of drinks have come under fire for health concerns if consumers use them excessively or inappropriately.

Energy drinks often contain large amounts of caffeine, which can lead to side effects such as jitteriness, increased heart rate, high blood pressure, and insomnia. Regular consumption may lead to a dependence on caffeine, making it difficult to function without it.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, caffeine can be part of a healthy diet for most people, but too much of it can have negative effects and may pose a danger to your health. Depending on factors such as body weight, medications you may take, certain medical conditions, and individual sensitivity, “too much” can vary from person to person.

However, as the popularity of energy drinks rises in young adults, some medical experts advise against consuming them due to the high levels of sugar and caffeine. The FDA claims, “Too much caffeine in children and teens can cause increased heart rate, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, anxiety, and lead to sleep problems, digestive problems and dehydration.”

JOLT Cola was discontinued in 2011 after the company failed to recover from bankruptcy in 2009. JOLT Cola briefly returned to the market in 2017, but it didn’t gain much momentum due to poor distribution.
