Whataburger Celebrates 75th Birthday With the Return of Fan-Favorite Menu Items

Whataburger is celebrating its 75th birthday with the return of its fan-favorite menu items and a yearlong celebration that kicks off on the all-new “75 Stories for 75 Years” website.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, Whataburger is kicking off its 75th anniversary celebration with the welcome return of several menu items big on flavor and short on your wallet. The Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco will make their return, along with two new items: the Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake and Coffee.

The Monterey Melt consists of two 100% beef patties dripping in melty Monterey Jack and American cheeses, topped with grilled onions and peppers, and finished off with the brand’s signature Jalapeño Ranch sauce. The melt was last seen on the menu in 2022.

Whataburger’s Chicken Fajita Taco is filled with grilled chicken breast, wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, and smothered with seared onions, poblano, and red peppers. The new Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee, which comes hot or iced, and Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake combine the best of chocolate and cinnamon. 

These are just a few of the items the fast-food chain has in store for its fans as it celebrates 75 years in business. As it hits its landmark birthday on Aug. 8, 2025, Whataburger will reach back into WhataVault to choose other legendary menu items that customers have requested via social media, online petitions, emails, and snail mail to add to the menu for a limited time.

At the three-quarter-century mark, Whataburger is launching a fresh, digital footprint. There are lots of surprises in store for customers and users of the app, including a merch collaboration with Wrangler, food promotions, and unique in-person experiences.

The chain has launched a new digital space that celebrates its devoted fans. The company’s goal is to tell “75 Stories for 75 Years” with stories from Whataburger devotees and new fans.

Also starting in January, Whatastore will offer fans new monthly merchandise priced at $19.50 — a throwback to the restaurant’s founding year. From exclusive merch to must-have collectibles, these monthly drops will be the ultimate score for fans looking to rep their burger love in style.

In Spring 2025, the fast-food restaurant is teaming up with Wrangler for a collaboration titled Wrangler x Whataburger. This 24-piece collection features everything from denim jackets and jeans to graphic tees and ballcaps — blending the iconic vibes of both brands — and will be available at select retailers nationwide and on the Whatastore.

Finally, on Valentine’s Day, Whataburger is celebrating its love for its fans by honoring the romance of two of its most devoted customers. One lucky twosome will win their dream “Whatawedding” at the restaurant location on the Las Vegas Strip.
