Ring in a Healthier New Year With Walmart Wellness Day

Walmart is welcoming its customers to its first Wellness Day of the year.

This yearly event encompasses everything Walmart customers need to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Guests will have access to free health screenings including glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure. Also, the retail giant will distribute affordable immunizations for the flu, COVID-19, HPV, mumps, and measles at nearly 4,600 pharmacies nationwide, according to a press release.

Some locations will also partake in vision screenings, in-store giveaways, and demonstrations of wellness products. Check with your local store to see if these opportunities will be offered at your store.

“A new year brings opportunities for a fresh start, and we want to support people on their health journeys,” said Kevin Host, the retailer’s senior vice president of pharmacy. “Our Wellness Day events allow customers and patients to check in on their health in an affordable and convenient way while also encouraging meaningful connections with our highly skilled pharmacy teams.”

Walmart Wellness Day has been a yearly event since 2014. The company has provided more than 5 million free health screenings for customers.

Walmart is the only retailer in some communities where customers can ask healthcare questions, according to the press release. It states that over 4,000 locations are in “areas that are experiencing a shortage of medical providers, meaning that Walmart is often the first stop for healthcare in rural and underserved communities.”

Walmart’s Wellness Day allows customers the chance to partake in events and speak to experts about topics they may feel uncomfortable addressing with others. The company’s pharmacists will be on hand to discuss vaccinations, answer medication questions, and offer tips to promote healthier lifestyles.

The company has pharmacies in 21 states that provide same-day testing and treatment for strep, flu, and COVID-19. As these viruses are prevalent during the winter months, this is a perfect time for shoppers to weigh their vaccination options and learn more about the benefits of these preventative measures. If a customer is unwell, Wellness Day is a great opportunity to discuss healthcare options with a pharmacist.
