In-N-Out Burger Announces First Official Portland, Oregon, Location

January 19, 2025

In-N-Out Burger continues its nationwide expansion, with a new store soon to open in the Pacific Northwest.

According to Eater, the California-based burger business has submitted plans to establish a drive-thru restaurant at 11270 N.E. Holman St., close to Portland International Airport. Some Portlanders have been waiting years for the renowned chain to set up shop in Portland finally, and this is the first tangible step in that process.

In-N-Out Burger is well-known for its tasty Double-Double burgers and “secret” off-menu products, so much so that it has built a cult-like following.

Fans of In-N-Out had a lot of good news last year: A location of the popular restaurant will open in Ridgefield, Washington, 30 minutes from the Oregon border, in 2025. Additionally, the company received permission from Washington County to construct a restaurant close to Beaverton, a plan that had been criticized due to traffic issues. It’s unclear when that facility will open, but In-N-Out Burger appears to be moving forward with plans to open another restaurant in Portland, this time inside the city limits.

Tennessee Will Also Be Getting an In-N-Out Burger

Speaking of the 2025 expansion, ground was broken on the first-ever “Midstate” site in Franklin, Tennessee, in September 2024. Lynsi Snyder, the heiress of In-N-Out Burger, told WSMV 4 that the decision was “historic” for the burger brand and that the first site would open in 2026, which was significantly earlier than anticipated.

“This is a historic day for In-N-Out Burger. Breaking ground on this beautiful property is the first step in putting down roots in the state of Tennessee,” she said at the time. “We were drawn to The Volunteer State because of its commitment to quality, service and family, and cannot wait to begin serving Customers and communities by 2026.”

In addition to dozens of locations in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah, the burger business, which does not franchise its restaurants, currently operates a significant amount of its operations in the Western region of the United States, with the majority of its locations located in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
