Chipotle Is Giving Away Free Food in Time for the Super Bowl. Here Are the Details

January 30, 2025

Chipotle is getting its fans ready for the Super Bowl, which will be held on Feb. 9. There will be free food; plus the Tex-Mex-inspired chain will be giving away up to 50,000 free entrée codes during the Big Game. Let’s take a look at what we know about this latest promotion.

Chipotle Is Giving Away Free Queso Blanco & Guacamole

Per a press release, Chipotle has created a new holiday named “Extra Sunday” to honor football fans who wish to have the day off from work following the men’s professional American football championship game.

“Extra Sunday” was inspired by a big group of Americans who campaigned to make the Monday following football’s most visible event a national holiday. In 2024, an estimated 16.1 million U.S. employees planned to miss work the day after the football championship game, establishing an unofficial holiday.

On Monday, Feb. 10, Rewards members can get a free Guac and Queso Blanco with the purchase of any entrée, available only on the app and website with promo code “EXTRA25.” This is the brand’s first promotion that allows fans to get free Guac and Queso Blanco simultaneously.

Furthermore, Chipotle also stated that it will give away up to 50,000 free entrées to fans watching the Kansas City Chiefs versus Philadelphia Eagles game on Sunday, Feb. 9. The popular Tex-Mex-inspired chain will post a text-to-claim code on X and its Instagram story anytime something “extra” occurs during the game, such as:

  • The team on offense converts on a fourth-down play.
  • The team on offense successfully kicks an extra point.
  • The team on offense scores a two-point conversion.
  • Any other event that takes place during the game that Chipotle determines is an “extra” event.

Fans will then text 888-222 when prompted. The first fans to text the number will get a code for a free entrée.

Partnership With JuJu Watkins

Last month, Chipotle announced that its first team-specific collegiate NIL arrangement is with the University of Southern California (USC) women’s basketball team, which features rising superstar JuJu Watkins. This agreement is the brand’s first team NIL (name, image, likeness) contract.

According to a press statement, the squad will aid the fast-food behemoth with marketing activities during the 2024-2025 season. Each of the 15 student players will receive a VIP card that will entitle them to complimentary meals at the Mexican-American-inspired chain restaurant. Later this year, Chipotle will make the athletes’ favorite orders available as digital menu items exclusively on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com.

For admirers who wish to eat like JuJu, she recommends a dinner of white rice, chicken, fresh tomato salsa, fajita veggies, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.

“We’re always training hard and staying active, so having a meal option that’s both delicious and packed with protein is perfect for recovering after workouts,” said Watkins in a statement. “Chipotle is also a great spot for the team to bond. It’s super convenient being so close to our practice facility, making it an easy go-to for us to grab a quick meal together and connect.”

Furthermore, the fast-food chain unveiled its Christmas collection in November, which was ideal for the family’s biggest fan.

A car napkin holder, a “water” cup candle, and cilantro soap were among the strange gifts available at the time, though only the soap is currently still available on the chain’s website, along with a variety of clothing items like T-shirts, shoes, and hats.

Chris Brandt, chief brand officer at Chipotle, said at the time, “Over the years, we’ve seen these limited edition merch drops sell out in a matter of minutes or hours and pop up on resale websites for up to five times their retail price. Now we are giving our superfans a second chance to get their hands on these coveted products that they helped inspire.”
