February 3, 2025
Waffle House devotees have a tradition of spending Valentine’s Day eating at the beloved late-night restaurant, where the eatery is completely transformed into a hub of love.
According to Southern Living, over 200 locations around the country offer special Valentine’s Day dinners, where Waffle House is transformed from casual into chic with white tablecloths, candlelight, and festive decorations to create a unique and romantic experience.
Reservations are required to secure a spot in one of the restaurants, which provide special menu items for dinner and will decorate participating locations with balloons and other items to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The complete list of participating restaurants can be found here.
Not all Waffle House locations participate in the Valentine’s Day celebration, so it’s essential to confirm with your chosen restaurant in your area if it does. The popular annual event requires reservations in advance, and to make one, you can call the closest participating restaurant between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
What Types of Food Does Waffle House Offer?
Waffle House features a menu of breakfast favorites, and it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This means that the restaurant is open even on holidays like Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The eatery features breakfast and lunch favorites like waffles, eggs, omelets, biscuits and gravy, sandwich melts, coffee, steaks, chili, wraps and sandwiches, and burgers. There’s also pie — Southern Pecan and Triple Chocolate — to finish off the meal.
The eatery’s official page reveals that its most popular menu item is its All-Star Special. The plate is filled to the brim with two scrambled eggs with toast and jelly; a choice of grits, hashbrowns, or sliced tomatoes; a waffle, and a choice of bacon, sausage, or city ham.
Waffle House was opened by Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner in Avondale Estates, Georgia, in 1955. “We aren’t in the food business. We’re in the people business,” Rogers said.
The eatery has since become a beloved institution for those craving delicious breakfast foods any time of day. Along with food, Waffle House also sells branded merchandise so devotees can show off their love for the restaurant wherever they go.
