Doritos Names Winner of Crash the Super Bowl Contest

February 4, 2025

After months of anticipation, Doritos has named the winner of its Crash the Super Bowl contest.

In early January, the snack brand revealed it had whittled down thousands of submissions from fans who took on the challenge of creating a better Super Bowl LIX commercial. The company settled on 25 semifinalists before narrowing its choices down to three.

The trio of ads were featured on YouTube, and then fans were asked to pick one winner, whose advertisement would be featured during the big game on Feb. 9 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Finally, a winner has been chosen — the Super Bowl commercial titled “Abduction,” submitted by Dylan Bradshaw and Nate Norell, has taken the top spot. The spot reveals that even space creatures aren’t immune to Doritos.

“Abduction” airs during the first quarter of the Super Bowl. Bradshaw and Norell will walk away with $1 million and an all-expense-paid trip to New Orleans to watch The Big Game in person.

“This year’s Crash the Super Bowl contest winner, ‘Abduction’ is the ultimate embodiment of Doritos’ For the Bold ethos. They truly pushed the bounds of creativity with their Abduction ad,” said Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America in a press statement. “We can’t wait to showcase their vision on the biggest stage in advertising, as we know the spot will inspire our fans to continue stepping outside of what is expected.”

New Orleans Is Host to a Plethora of Fun Food-Related Events During the Super Bowl

Tostitos will set up a free immersive experience during the weekend of the Super Bowl on the streets of the French Quarter. Through the “Chips and Sips Quarter,” football fans will have a chance to enjoy free food and drinks and win prizes, according to Brand Innovators. Reggie Bush and other NFL legends are expected to attend.

Eater reports that the party atmosphere of New Orleans, Louisiana, is the perfect place for foodies to chow down on some tasty eats before, during, and after the Super Bowl. From chips to full meals, there’s something for everyone.

From Feb. 6 through Feb. 8, Tostitos Cantina at St. Roch will offer a Tasting Menu Experience for $35. Located at the St. Roch Market, the event features dishes from the restaurants The Salted Pearl, Artiza’s Kitchen, and Taceaux Loceaux.

There’s also the Pepsi NOLA Eats Fest, a free food festival at Woldenberg Park where there will be live music, a crawfish boil competition, and other New Orleans-inspired events. Attendees must RSVP to attend.

Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O’Neal, and Guy Fieri are some of the famous faces who will also have pop-ups in the area.

For those with deeper pockets, there’s the infamous Taste of the NFL event. Held at the National WWII Museum, the party features food from 25 New Orleans chefs and will be hosted by Andrew Zimmern, Carla Hall, and others. Tickets are $750 apiece but benefit GENYOUth’s End Student Hunger Fund.

Super Bowl LIX is slated to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET, live on FOX.
