McDonald’s CosMc’s Stores Launch Churro Lineup
February 17, 2025
McDonald’s CosMc’s stores are expanding their menu offerings, introducing a new churro lineup for customers.
Nation’s Restaurant News reports that a new CosMc’s location has launched in Allen, Texas. Aside from Bolinbrook and Allen, CosMc’s has one restaurant in Fort Worth and two in San Antonio. CosMc’s serves specialty drinks such as the Island Pick Me Up Punch, Churro Cold Brew Frappé, and Sour Energy Burst.
The most common drink alteration is the inclusion of Fruity Popping Boba. Savory Hashbrown Bites have been the best-selling item across all dayparts, while CosMc’s has sold hundreds of thousands of McPops (little doughnuts).
In addition to announcing its new Allen site, the concept unveiled an extended churro menu this week, which includes a Churro Latte, Iced Churro Latte, Churro Cold Brew, and Churro Shaken Espresso. Churros are long strips of fried dough coated with cinnamon and sugar, and they are a street food that’s popular in Spanish and Latin American cultures. They can be stuffed with caramel, chocolate, or other flavored sauces. Churros have inspired operators to create sweets such as ice cream, cake, and beverages.
CosMc’s Is Closing 3 Locations
Despite the new menu offerings and a new location in Texas, McDonald’s struggles with the concept chain. Last month, the company announced that it was closing three locations.
According to Restaurant Dive, the well-known fast-food chain will close three more notable locations that have been converted into the new concept restaurant from a traditional McDonald’s and adjust its development strategy for the beverage-focused model. McDonald’s also claims that the concept thrives better in smaller locations.
The chain concept’s success has resulted in long drive-thru lineups for customers. Smaller facilities without dining rooms that focus more on off-premise clients rather than attempting to accommodate both in-store and drive-thru orders may help enhance drive-thru times.
Following the December 2023 opening of CosMc’s, McDonald’s opened six Texas locations and one in Illinois. But Chris Kempczinski, the CEO of McDonald’s, urged caution. He suggested that past diversification attempts, such as investments in Boston Market, Donatos Pizza, and Chipotle Mexican Grill, had turned into a diversion, resulting in divestitures within 10 years. As a result, the lessons acquired during the test phase will determine CosMc’s future expansion. Nonetheless, he noted that “if the test works out, CosMc’s could open across the globe.”
