Costco Gas Station Hours Get a Shake-Up: Will Store Hours Follow?

Fans of Costco’s gas stations will have even more reason to rejoice. The popular fuel pumps are getting a shake-up in hours. Will expanded store hours be next?
For years, Costco customers have had to wait in long, long lines to fill up their tanks on fuel priced lower than the national average. Now, the pumps will be open both earlier and later to give all Costco members the chance to fuel up with less hassle.
The expansion, which the company announced on social media last week, gives shoppers an extra hour on weekdays and an additional one-and-a-half hours on Saturdays and Sundays to utilize the members-only service. The new hours are as follows: Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m. through 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 6 a.m. through 7:30 p.m.
The company did note, however, that hours may vary in California and Hawaii.
An Instagram account dedicated to sharing the best Costco deals, products, and reviews also posted about the news, and fans took to the comments section to share their excitement, with many hoping the expanded hours will cut back on the long lines.
“Thank goodness,” one Instagram user said. Others, however, critiqued the hours. “We should be able to pump our own around the clock,” a shopper said, while another noted, “This is so wrong, stores differ in opening and closing times.”
Other commenters noted variation in hours at their own gas stations, showing that some hours may differ depending on the city and state.
Will Costco Store Hours Change Too?
Although many Costco fans would love to see store hours change, the shift in gas station hours will not currently be reflected at stores. Warehouse hours remain the same.
Costco’s customer service website states the following regarding store hours: “There may be slight variations in hours for each warehouse. We recommend that you view the location information for a warehouse near you using our Find a Warehouse feature. This feature will also display any adjusted holiday hours and closures.”
It continues, “For the hours of our warehouse services, such as gas station, pharmacy, optical department, etc., find your desired warehouse location and select the store details section. Any service with only a phone number has the same hours as the warehouse.” Store hours can also be found on the Costco app.
