Target and Champion Launch 500-Piece Collaboration
February 27, 2025
Target is taking another step forward as a place where customers can continue to find great deals and exclusive collaborations via a new partnership with athleisurewear company Champion.
The retailer shared details of the collaboration in a press release. The Champion collection for Target will feature a “unique line of high-quality, trend-forward activewear and sporting goods for adults and kids.” The 500-piece collection will be available in stores and online beginning in August 2025.
“When you combine Champion’s legacy in sportswear with Target’s style authority, the result is something special,” said Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “We know our consumers love new and differentiated items, and this partnership is all about merging sport, style and culture in a relevant way that resonates with them. I can’t wait for everyone to experience this on-trend, high-quality and irresistibly affordable assortment with styles only at Target.”
Most Champion Pieces in Target’s Collection Retail for Under $40
Target continues to keep its price points low for its exclusive collaborations. According to the press release, most Champion items will cost less than $40. This ensures more foot traffic within the store and more activity online as customers shop for these affordable goods.
The extensive collection includes stylish apparel, accessories, and slides. The collaboration also features sporting goods and bags for adults and kids.
The Champion and Target collection features trending colors, unique washes, and the iconic Champion logo stitched into each item. Following Target’s August launch of this collaboration, a limited-time collection of classic, varsity-inspired apparel for women and men will arrive in September online and in stores.
“As one of the most recognizable names in apparel, Champion’s presence at Target — a retailer known for its strong connection to the consumer and intentional assortment — marks a significant moment,” said Jamie Salter, founder, chairman and CEO at Authentic Brands Group, owner of the Champion brand. “This partnership underscores Champion’s enduring influence and strategic growth as we introduce the brand in a meaningful way through one of the most respected retailers in the market.”
Champion was founded in 1919 as the Knickerbocker Knitting Company in Rochester, New York. The brand later became known as Champion Knitting Mills Inc. and gained popularity for its durable sportswear, including sweatshirts and athletic apparel. Champion pioneered the reverse weave sweatshirt in the 1930s and became a major supplier of uniforms for college and professional sports teams.
