February 28, 2025

Red Robin has introduced its latest taste sensation: the Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger, perfect to enjoy while watching some basketball.

Per a press release, customers can indulge in this savory meal that consists of three juicy beef patties, four strips of hardwood-smoked bacon, and six slices of American cheese with Red’s Secret Tavern Sauce.

For those who don’t have such hearty appetites, the cheeseburger is additionally available as a “two-pointer.” This includes two beef patties, four strips of hardwood-smoked bacon, four slices of American cheese, and Red’s Secret Tavern Sauce. Both burgers are served with bottomless sides like steak fries, Yukon chips, sweet potato fries, garlic fries, steamed broccoli, garlic parmesan broccoli, coleslaw, or a side salad.

“We wanted to give our guests another tasty reason to enjoy our ‘game-changing’ new and improved gourmet burgers while watching the basketball games with friends,” said President and CEO GJ Hart. “The Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger takes classic flavors to epic proportions and was created to deliver maximum flavor. We invite basketball and burger lovers to join us for a bite and experience what the new Red Robin is all about!”

Red Robin also offers $0 delivery between April 5 and April 7 via orders placed online or through the restaurant’s mobile app to make it easier to indulge your cravings. More deals and offers can be found by joining Red Robin Royalty to earn rewards on eligible purchases.

The Buzzer Beater Bacon Cheeseburger is available through the college basketball tournament, from March 3 through April 7.

Red Robin Hopes This New Promotion Drives in New Customers

Red Robin hopes these exciting new promotions drive established and new customers to its eateries. The restaurant chain has suffered financially from some outlets that are underperforming over the past several years.

FSR reports that Red Robin has plans to close 70 of its 407 company-owned restaurants over the next five years. Operating losses from these stores totaled around $6 million in 2024. Ten to 15 restaurants are expected to close in 2025, with closures spread evenly throughout the year, and Red Robin plans to use restaurant closures to preserve cash and enhance operational efficiency.

“We believe the expected closure of a majority of these restaurants will allow the strength of our remaining portfolio to become clear over time and free cash that we expect to reinvest in the business and use to prepay debt,” Hart said during Red Robin’s Q4 earnings call. “We’re also exploring other avenues to accelerate this process as we expect further updates on our progress in future quarters.”

Improvements to Red Robin’s menu and an emphasis on value and dining promotions helped boost traffic in 2024, according to Restaurant Dive. In 2025, the chain plans to add new menu items throughout the year to bring customers in. Red Robin will also continue to implement limited-time offers and new salad options and keep offering value meals like $10 Cheeseburger Tuesday and Kids Night Wednesday to its patrons.
