Sam’s Club Customers Beg for Fan-Favorite Food Item To Return to Original Recipe
March 17, 2025
Customers of Sam’s Club are begging the company to return to the original recipe for one fan-favorite food item.
On March 12, the Instagram page Sam’s Club Lovers posted a video claiming that Sam’s Club has changed the formula of its popular Member’s Mark Iced Cinnamon Rolls. Reportedly, the new formula is in a pack of 10 and retails for $8.98, versus a pack of eight for the previous version of the baked item.
The cinnamon rolls are described as such: “Baked fresh in-club daily. Sweet dough with rich cinnamon notes topped with smooth, creamy icing. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or to bring to your next gathering. Includes 10 cinnamon rolls per package. Enjoy as is or warmed up.”
Sam’s Club Lovers claims the rolls are slightly smaller with the new formula. They also claim that the rolls are sweeter than the previous recipe.
Fans of the product shared their thoughts in the comments section of the post. They too were critical of what appeared to be a new recipe.
“New ones are TERRIBLE. Dough is too dense and doesn’t warm up well,” wrote one follower.
“Unfortunately, they are terrible. I got them yesterday,” penned a second Sam’s Club fan. A third noted, “Why change something so good? It looks like these have less icing too!”
The feedback on Sam’s item listing has also been overwhelmingly negative, with an average rating of just 2.3 out of 5 stars. Many recent reviewers have expressed disappointment with the new version, arguing that it falls short of the original and urging the company to bring back the previous cinnamon rolls.
“Not going to be buying these anymore. No desire for seconds. Hardened in the microwave and no cinnamon flavor,” one commenter stated.
“The original ones were a lot better, please bring them back, these don’t have the right consistency as the others and truly don’t look appealing,” said another 1-star review.
Sam’s Club Cinnamon Rolls Aren’t the Only Product the Big-Box Chain Has Changed
Per Mashed, Sam’s Club has changed several of its recipes over the years, causing fan complaints in-store and on its website.
One of the core items that customers say has changed at the big-box retailer is the wildly popular rotisserie chicken. These fully cooked birds aren’t so fully cooked, according to some customers who claim to have purchased undercooked or underseasoned birds.
Another food item on the menu whose formula has reportedly changed is the muffin recipe. Many users complain the company now manufactures dry, flavorless muffins.
Sam’s Club pizza, available at the food court, is now reportedly greasy, according to customers on Reddit. Other customers claim the fast-food item is way too salty today compared to years past.
Member’s Mark bottled water has reportedly changed as well. Customers claim the beverage tastes different.
These changes reflect Sam’s Club’s efforts to adapt to member preferences and improve the overall shopping experience. While some adjustments have been met with enthusiasm, others have sparked negative feedback, highlighting the diverse expectations of the club’s clientele.
