Dairy Queen Is Selling 85-Cent Blizzards for Its Birthday: Here’s How and When To Get One

March 24, 2025

Dairy Queen has been in business for nearly 90 years. Now, in celebration of its upcoming 85th birthday, the fast-food chain is offering its customers a chance to snag 85-cent Blizzards for a limited time.

Dairy Queen’s 85-Cent Blizzards: How and When To Get One

Per a press release announcement, Dairy Queen is marking a significant milestone this year — 85 years of serving its signature frozen treats. To celebrate, the company is launching a Summer Blizzard Treat Menu that blends nostalgia, new flavors, and a limited-time offer that’s sure to attract fans nationwide.

Kicking off March 31, Dairy Queen locations across the U.S. will feature a refreshed Blizzard lineup designed to capture the flavors of summer. Among the new additions is the Mixing Bowl Mashup Blizzard, a rich combination of brownie batter and chocolate chip cookie dough folded into DQ’s classic soft serve. Also making its debut is the Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard, which pairs creamy cheesecake pieces and choco chunks with strawberry topping.

Fan favorites are also returning, including the S’mores Blizzard, which earned its comeback through a fan vote. This summer staple features marshmallow-filled chocolate bars and graham cracker bits for a taste reminiscent of fireside gatherings. The Confetti Cake Blizzard is also back, combining cake pieces, colorful sprinkles, and vanilla soft serve for a birthday-worthy treat. Rounding out the menu is the beloved Cotton Candy Blizzard, a sweet blend of cotton candy flavor and vibrant sprinkles.

In true celebratory fashion, Dairy Queen is offering a special promotion to mark the occasion. From March 24 to April 6, DQ Rewards members can enjoy a small Blizzard Treat for just 85 cents with any purchase of $1 or more, exclusively through the DQ Mobile App.

The 85th-anniversary campaign is a strategic nod to Dairy Queen’s enduring popularity and its ability to evolve while staying true to its roots. By combining limited-time flavors with a value-driven offer, DQ is leveraging nostalgia and innovation to drive foot traffic and digital engagement during the spring and summer seasons.

Free Cone Day

Meanwhile, the discounts don’t stop there. On March 20, the ice cream shop ran its Free Cone Day.

Fans were still able to obtain a free small vanilla soft-serve ice cream in a cone on Free Cone Day this year, just like they did in previous years. Each guest is limited to one complimentary soft serve during this event, but no purchase is required.

However, some lucky ice cream fans will be treated to a supersized Free Cone Day. Fans who joined DQ Rewards by March 19 were entered to win a year’s supply of free cones.

DQ also honored St. Patrick’s Day with a green-tinged delicacy, the Mint Oreo Blizzard, which blends vanilla soft serve, Oreo chunks, and a “cool mint topping.” The final product is green in color, comparable to McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry.

Additionally, Dairy Queen recently introduced a new $7 meal deal that includes an original cheeseburger or chicken strips, full-size normal fries, a drink, and a sundae made with the chain’s signature soft serve. Customers can upgrade to a small blizzard for an additional $2.

Dairy Queen has plenty of discounts and surprises in store for its consumers, including the relaunch of its “most requested” Blizzard ice cream flavor.

Customers were asked to vote on social media to determine which Blizzard flavor will be available on menus later this year. Georgia Mud Fudge, Cappuccino Heath, and S’mores were the three most popular options, with S’mores Blizzards taking the top spot and returning to menus in April 2025.
