After 3 Years, Beloved Whataburger Menu Item Returns

Whataburger heralds the return of one of its most beloved menu items after fans demanded its return.

Per a press release, the fast-food eatery announced the return of its classic Whataburger Mushroom Swiss Burger after a three-year hiatus. The burger’s return to menus comes after fans signed a petition to bring it back.

A petition featured more than 7,200 signatures of customers who wanted the beloved beefy sandwich to return as a permanent addition to the chain’s menu. At this moment, the sandwich is only available for a limited time.

“You asked, we listened — our Mushroom Swiss Burger is back! Because some legends don’t belong in the past… they belong in your hands,” President and CEO Debbie Stroud said.

“This year marks our 75th anniversary, and we wanted to give our customers something they’ve been asking for. It’s not just about nostalgia — it’s about our commitment to making every Whataburger visit one worth craving, with burgers served hot, fresh, and just the way you like it,” she added.

The Mushroom Swiss Burger features two grilled all-beef patties, Swiss cheese, au jus sauce, and grilled mushrooms on a toasted bun.

Whataburger Is Giving Back to the Community With More Than Just Good Eats

Along with welcoming back the return of the fan-favorite Mushroom Swiss Burger, Whataburger will also invite customers to give back to their local communities throughout the month of April. This initiative is one of many the company participates in throughout the calendar year.

In April, Whataburger invites customers to “round up at the register” to support the Gratitude Initiative, an organization providing education programs and scholarships to children of military and law enforcement families. The fundraiser aligns with Month of the Military Child, honoring the resilience and sacrifices of these dedicated individuals.

The company actively engages in various community initiatives throughout the year, focusing on education, employee support, and local partnerships. Some of these include its Feeding Student Success Program, which addresses food insecurity and supports education.

The company also participates in the Whataburger Family Foundation. This employee fund has invested millions in scholarships and hardship assistance to employees and their immediate families.
