Wendy’s Roasts Katy Perry After Her Return From Blue Origin Space Trip

April 15, 2025

Wendy’s is known for its social media clapbacks, and its latest one was against pop star Katy Perry, who recently took a trip to space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin spaceship.

The New York Post is reporting that the singer of “I Kissed a Girl” joined Gayle King and Jeff Bezos’ fiancee, Lauren Sánchez, for a historic space journey. Astronaut Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn joined the three celebrities.

However, once the all-female crew returned to Blue Origin’s West Texas camp, Wendy’s official X account slung shade at the singer, replying to a post about her return from space with, “Can we send her back.”

But it didn’t stop there. After someone pointed out that Perry and her crewmates had only been in space for a total of 10 minutes, Wendy’s jokingly responded, “Don’t short change her it was 11 minutes.”

It’s unclear why the fast-food company targeted Perry in particular. However, its Gen Z-centric social media account has been known to send out scathing and nasty tweets on occasion.

Wendy’s Plans To Open 1,000 New Restaurants, Hit $18 Billion in Sales by 2028

Meanwhile, on the business side of things, the fast-food chain has ambitious plans to expand and become a multi-billion-dollar industry in the coming years.

Wendy’s plans to open 1,000 outlets worldwide by the end of 2028 as part of its international expansion strategy. By 2028, the business hopes to have between 8,100 and 8,300 restaurants operating throughout the world, with system revenues of up to $18 billion.

According to TipRanks, this amount would effectively double the chain’s current global sales growth rate (from 2%-3% to 5%-6% yearly).

“The Wendy’s brand has tremendous strength, and we will unlock its full potential, scaling our system to match the power of the brand,” said CEO Kirk Tanner in a statement. The CEO gestured toward “upcoming innovation and collaborations that will build on our high-quality menu with fresh ingredients.”

“Our relentless pursuit of excellence in our food and our restaurants will position Wendy’s for long-term success as we win across our global markets,” he added.
