JELL-O Debuts First-Ever Plant-Based Pudding

April 16, 2025

JELL-O has gotten into the meat-free business, offering a plant-based pudding for the first time in the company’s history.

In a press release announcement, the dessert company revealed that JELL-O Oat Milk Chocolate Pudding will soon be available at retailers across the country. The new product has the classic creamy texture and rich chocolate flavor that JELL-O fans know and love, but it is lactose-free and vegan. This historic occasion marks Kraft Heinz’s first foray into the plant-based desserts industry and the launch of an oat milk-based product.

“JELL-O has always set the standard for creamy and great-tasting desserts that families across the country can enjoy,” said Lauren Gumbiner, associate director of marketing desserts at The Kraft Heinz Company. “As our fans’ diets and preferences change, we’re evolving our portfolio alongside them. Our chocolate pudding is a timeless classic, and now, thanks to our lactose-free and vegan oat milk version, we’re excited to give more families the opportunity to enjoy it.”

The Oat Milk Chocolate Pudding is now available in convenient four-packs at major supermarkets nationwide.

JELL-O Is the First Plant-Based Dessert From Kraft Heinz — But Not Its First Foray Into Plant-Based Products

The Oat Milk Chocolate Pudding is Kraft Heinz’s first foray into plant-based desserts. However, the company does have other plant-based products available for purchase.

In late 2023, Kraft Heinz Not Company introduced KRAFT NotMac&Cheese, the first dairy-free and plant-based KRAFT Mac & Cheese product in the United States. This was the third launch in a year from the joint venture of The Kraft Heinz Company and TheNotCompany Inc., both of which are dedicated to providing plant-based food solutions to all.

The introduction coincided with the strong growth of the plant-based food market, which demonstrates that healthier alternatives to mac and cheese are reaching consumers at a rate more than six times faster than the total category.

“The Kraft Heinz Not Company creates plant-based versions of fan-favorite foods that taste like the real thing, yet don’t require people to drastically change their eating habits,” said Lucho Lopez-May, CEO of The Kraft Heinz Not Company, in a statement accompanying the press release at the time. “NotCo brings its revolutionary AI technology that has a proven track record in creating mouthwatering plant-based foods to KRAFT — the beloved mac & cheese brand that sells over a million boxes every day. Leveraging the strengths of both companies, we’re offering the creamy and comforting experience KRAFT Mac & Cheese fans have loved for over 85 years — without the dairy.”
