Wendy’s ‘Fresh, Never Frozen’ Beef Patties Available in Select Kroger, King Sooper Stores in Colorado

May 7, 2025

Fans of the iconic “fresh, never frozen” square beef burger patties being served up at Wendy’s restaurants nationwide may find a mouth-watering deal in the grocery store cooler next time they head out to satisfy their shopping lists — at least if they live in Colorado.

Wendy’s Launches Grocery Store Trial for Its Famous Square Patties

According to Parade, Wendy’s has partnered with Kroger and King Sooper grocery stores in select Colorado markets to offer its trademark burger patties for preparation at home, whether in the frying pan or on a smoking-hot grill.

“Wendy’s is pursuing opportunities to bring our fresh, famous food to customers in new and exciting ways,” a spokesperson told USA Today.

“Currently, Wendy’s fans in Columbus, Ohio and Denver, Colorado can pick up square patties at their local King Soopers or Kroger,” the spokesperson added. Wendy’s also confirmed to the outlet that this move serves “as a test for possible future expansion,” meaning that if all goes well, those square patties could be making their way toward broader distribution nationwide.

The patties are served up in a four-pack weighing a single pound, with the fast-food chain’s iconic logo splashed across the top of a largely white box. True to the slogan, the patties themselves are to be refrigerated while at the grocery store and have never been frozen.

Commentary attached to the reveal shared by notable Instagram foodie Snackolator was largely positive, although some cheeky commenters also added a few humorous threads. Some confusion existed among audience members who mistook the product as being placed in the frozen section, rather than refrigerated coolers, and one critic quipped: “Finally, a Wendy’s patty that can be served hot — this might be the first one ever!”

As of midday on May 7, Snackolator’s post had racked up over 12,000 likes and more than 100 comments.
