May 15, 2025
Walmart is expanding its vision care line with new products to meet growing customer needs while broadening its virtual eyewear assortment, making it easier to serve more customers efficiently and effectively.
According to a press release, the retailer has introduced two innovative products: Nuance Audio Glasses and eureka! daily contact lenses for astigmatism. These eyecare products offer more affordable and accessible options to address customers’ specific eye care issues.
Nuance Audio Glasses, a unique pair of prescription eyewear, offer customers additional assistance for “perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.” These glasses combine hearing aid technology with eyeglass frames, addressing both vision and hearing needs in a single, convenient solution.
The press release states that this enhanced eyewear is available at nearly 1,500 Walmart Vision Centers for $1,100. David Reitnauer, vice president of health and wellness at Walmart, said, “This isn’t just about seeing better, it’s about living better. We’re seeing incredible interest from customers who want sleek, wearable tech that works for everyday life.”

Additionally, Walmart expanded on its eureka! daily contact lenses line, which first debuted in 2023. Customers with astigmatism can now access this essential eye care solution both in stores and online for $69.86. This price is approximately 20% less than the average price of comparable national brand lenses, according to Walmart.
The final new company offering is an expanded selection of virtual try-on frames. A total of over 1,700 will be available by the end of May 2025. Customers can utilize this feature via the Walmart app or at Walmart.com.
“These launches represent where retail vision is headed: seamlessly blending style, tech, and affordability,” said Reitnauer. “We’re proud to bring customers cutting-edge solutions that feel both futuristic and totally practical.”
Walmart First Entered the Optical Business in 1991
Walmart began offering optical services in 1991 and quickly became a trusted customer destination for quality eyewear at everyday low prices. The retailer provided many of the same lenses found at leading optical retailers, but for a lower cost. In 2000, the company began using premium lenses by optical manufacturer Carl Zeiss, offering all customers anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings on their glasses.
The company further invested in anti-reflective and scratch technology in 2001, during a time when other large-scale retailers did not offer these premium coatings. The retailer opened up an optical factory in Fayetteville, Arkansas, that runs 24 hours a day to fulfill customer demand, and where a single pair of glasses can take upwards of eight hours to complete from start to finish.
Walmart’s optical offerings start at a base price of $39 and come with a one-year warranty. Services also include an optometry department where customers can get an eye exam.
Customers can contact their local store for pricing regarding a complete vision package tailored to their needs. Walmart Vision Centers accept most major vision insurance providers for both eye exams and in-store purchases.
