Aldi is on a roll in the UK. Following a year of record-breaking performance, the German retailer is investing £300 million to open a reported 70 new stores in Britain and spruce up another 100. The chain will focus on improving its fresh produce and baby category offerings and provide food-to-go to its UK customers. In its expansion, the chain has overtaken Waitrose to become the UK's sixth-largest supermarket chain, currently with a total of 659 stores in Britain.
