Amazon adding more sponsored ads to search results
September 20, 2021
Sponsored product ads accounted for around 73 percent of the dollars spent on Amazon.com in the second quarter, according to Merkle. The online giant is adding more sponsored product ads to search results on the site and that, in turn, has driven up the cost of placement. “There’s fewer organic search results on the page, so that increasingly means the only way to get on the page is to buy your way on there,” said Jason Goldberg, chief commerce strategy officer at Publicis.
