Amazon Consolidates Amazon Clinic Into One Medical
June 28, 2024
Amazon has consolidated thier Amazon Clinic into Amazon One Medical.
According to an Amazon press release, Amazon has consolidated its pay-per-visit telehealth service medical plans into one cohesive company. This new option will give customers two options when seeking care from a healthcare provider. These options include a pay-per-visit telehealth session or the option to pay a monthly or annual fee for on-demand, virtual care.
“We are improving it by making per-visit pricing even more affordable and reducing the number of steps it takes for customers to start a visit on Amazon.com and in the Amazon app,” the site explains.
Amazon Clinic is now Amazon One Medical Pay-per-visit. Customers have two options to get care from Amazon One Medical — the same Membership that One Medical members know and love today, or Pay-per-visit telehealth for 30+ common conditions. “Customers now have two options when seeking care from Amazon One Medical—Pay-per-visit telehealth for 30+ common conditions (like pink eye, the flu, or a sinus infection), or a membership where customers pay a monthly or annual fee for on-demand virtual care, easy booking of same and next-day appointments at One Medical offices, and a differentiated primary care experience at 150+ offices across the U.S.”
“It’s simply too hard to get the medical care you need when you need it, and affordably—long waits, high costs, and impersonal care make it unnecessarily difficult for many patients today. We’re focused on improving the occasional and ongoing medical care experience,” said Neil Lindsay, senior vice president of Amazon Health Services.
“Amazon One Medical’s Pay-per-visit telehealth service makes it simpler for customers looking for care to see a provider, with fewer clicks and lower per-visit pricing. With Amazon One Medical, customers can choose the medical care service that best meets their needs—a single visit for occasional, common conditions, or a membership that supports access to ongoing care with an app that makes things like getting on-demand virtual care, appointments, and managing prescriptions fast and simple.”
Forbes reports that Amazon’s new service has two-tier pricing. Messaging visits will cost $29, and video visits will cost $49.
Customers can also opt into a subscription with One Medical to manage their health. These subscriptions can cost as low as $99 per year and as much as $199 per year for Amazon Prime customers.
According to the website Healthcare Drive, Amazon purchased One Medical in February 2023. The company has been dipping its toes into the healthcare industry one step at a time and was planning a healthcare program that could be sold to major corporations for their employees.
