Amazon fought net-zero emissions bill in Oregon

Amazon.com lobbied against a bill in Oregon that would have required data center operators in the state to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The retail and technology giant fought the legislation despite pledging to reach net-zero emissions by 2040. Amazon spokesperson David Ward said the company opposed the bill because it did “not address the build-out of electric infrastructure that is needed to bring more clean energy to the grid.”
