Amazon Is Hiring 250,000 Workers To Handle the Holiday Rush

October 4, 2024

Amazon will be hiring 250,000 season workers to add to its arsenal of employees to handle the holiday rush.

The company’s official website states, “The holiday season is always exciting for Amazon and our customers, and it’s a time when we create a lot of new jobs for people who want to earn extra money for a few months or kick off a career at Amazon. This year, we’re hiring for 250,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles across our customer fulfillment and transportation operations in the U.S., and we’re excited to welcome new teammates across the country.

What Is the Hourly Pay at Amazon?

Amazon says the starting pay for seasonal workers will be about $18 per hour, and employees will have access to benefits like healthcare starting their first day on the job. Each role is different within the retailer, but all Amazon jobs offer flexible schedules and access to a range of benefits, according to the company’s website. Seasonal employees who wish to continue their careers at Amazon will see, on average, a 15% pay increase in their first three years.

The website states that Amazon provides the following benefits:

  • Access to earned pay at any time
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance starting from day one
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Up to 20 weeks of paid pregnancy/parental leave for birth parents
  • Six weeks of paid leave for eligible supporting parents
  • Amazon’s Resources for Living program, offering free mental health and financial services as well as support for employees and their families and households

For those who join Amazon full time, the company includes healthcare from the first day of work and education programs like Career Choice. Amazon offers employees the chance to earn college degrees or certificates, all pre-paid by the company.

Interested parties can check out Amazon’s current openings at amazon.com/localjobs or text NEWJOB to 31432 to sign up for job alerts. Open roles are posted throughout the holiday season and reportedly fill up very quickly.
