Amazon in spat with Seattle over proposed tax on big business

Amazon has put plans on hold for the construction of a new 17-floor office tower in Seattle until management sees which way the City Council votes on the imposition of a new payroll tax on businesses with over $20 million a year in revenue. The new tax proceeds would be earmarked to provide aid for the city's substantial homeless population as well as for new affordable housing.
