According to the Washington Post (owned, as it happens, by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos), representatives of Amazon had a look at a number of sites in the D.C. metro area that have been proposed as possible locations for the e-tailer's second headquarters. The officials from Amazon reportedly breakfasted with Gov. Ralph Northam of Virginia who no doubt lobbied for potential sites in the northern part of the state, including Alexandria, Arlington and a tech campus on the border of Fairfax and Loudoun counties.
