Americans expect inflation to drop as gas prices fall

Americans are expecting the rate of inflation to fall in the near and longer term, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The median expectation in August for the one- and three-year inflation rate fell to 5.7 percent and 2.8 percent, compared to 6.2 percent and 3.2 percent in July.
