Apparel prices rise despite markdowns

Apparel prices in June were 5.2 percent higher on a year-over-year basis, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The clothing category, driven by an uptick in work-appropriate clothing and formalwear, rose five percent from January through May, according to NPD.
