As holiday delivery demand increases, delivery rates worsen

The number of holiday package deliveries is expected to surge 21 percent this year, and with bad weather compounding the pressures of the shortened selling season, carriers are sucking wind trying to keep up. FedEx's on-time delivery rate has reportedly dropped to about 68 percent season this season from 77 percent last year, and UPS's is down from 86 percent to 80 percent.
