How far should retailers go with the use of computer vision?
Shawn, thanks for your great comment. I cannot agree more with you on two aspects: 1) the need of diversity over the AI lifecycle; and 2) the self-assessment on whether certain types of technologies should be deployed, given the problem it aims to solve -- sometimes, ethical questions pose important barriers, as the tolerance for false positives you mentioned. Thank you! - Posted on: 12/27/2021

Do retailers have a recommendation bias problem?
Thanks for your comments, Ryan. I particularly liked your suggestion of adding other departments to support on the analysis of this type of problem. Depending on the magnitude and extension of the algorithmic bias, their perspective and input can be very valuable. - Posted on: 12/27/2021

What do retailers owe customers when it comes to personalized pricing?
Thanks for your comments, Brandon. Agree: trust and transparency with customers are key when it comes to leverage their data and run profitable businesses. - Posted on: 11/09/2021
What do retailers owe customers when it comes to personalized pricing?
Thanks for your comments, Brent. I think many people are still on the fence for some reasons, e.g.: price is most of times directly related to purchase power, which leads to privacy and fairness concerns; and lack of transparency of what companies are doing with customers' data - and how that data has been used. Transparency, proper data analytics and ethical AI development/deployment are only some of the factors that will help us to solve this issue. - Posted on: 11/09/2021
What do retailers owe customers when it comes to personalized pricing?
Great input, Oliver. Regulation is playing and will continue to play an important role on how companies disclose and communicate on their algorithms.
