Babies“R”Us Is Returning to Some Kohl’s Stores

May 9, 2024

After Babies“R”Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017 and closed all of its stores in 2018, along with its parent company Toys“R”Us, the beloved store is returning to some Kohl’s stores.

A press release from Kohl’s states that the company will open Babies“R”Us shops in 200 stores later this year and provides a map of all the future locations. Along with the stores, there will also be an expanded assortment of items available nationwide on Kohls.com.

Adding Babies“R”Us at Kohl’s will “offer more customers — including the next generation of families — the opportunity to shop Kohl’s wide array of offerings for every day, and every major milestone moment,” according to the press release. These include the latest baby gear, furniture, activities, accessories, and more.

Adjacent to the shop, customers will find Kohl’s existing baby and kids’ apparel. Other brands, including Little Co. by Lauren Conrad, Jumping Beans, Carters, and Nike, will create a comprehensive baby shopping experience. The first Babies“R”Us shops will begin opening in August and continue to open through the fall. By the holidays, all 200 shops will be open.

Additionally, Kohl’s will become the exclusive retailer for the Babies“R”Us at Kohl’s online gift registry. The company said earlier this year that members of its loyalty program will earn rewards on in-store and online Babies“R”Us purchases. They can also earn and redeem Kohl’s Cash on all merchandise during designated events.

The company released a map where customers can click on their state to see where these new retail shops will open later this year. The shops will range from 750 to 2,500 square feet and open in states including Texas, California, Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, and Virginia.

The Babies“R”Us deal builds on other shop-in-shop experiences at Kohl’s, including a partnership with Sephora. Kohl’s first added in-store Sephora shops in 2021.

By the end of 2023, Sephora beauty shops were present in approximately 900 Kohl’s stores. The retailer intends to keep expanding Sephora shops throughout the summer, with plans for the entire chain to have them by 2025.
