BARK Air Debuts the Ultimate Travel Experience for Dogs and Their Owners
May 23, 2024
There’s a new airline catering to pups that provides the ultimate luxury for man’s best friend.
The BARK company revealed that this air service will allow pets and their owners to travel together and comfortably, catering to these furry friends. The airline hopes to relieve the stress on pets and their owners when they travel both long distances or short flights.
For other airlines, pets must be small enough to fit into a carrier that can be placed under the seat in front of them, confined to a duffle bag, or even put in the plane’s cargo hold. All of these methods of travel can cause undue stress on confused animals.
BARK has devised BARK Air to ease pet owners’ minds and allow pets to travel comfortably. The company has what it calls a “dog-first” mentality toward flying.
Introducing BARK Air: A 100% totally real airline for dogs. We're dog people, and we are tired of there being no truly dog-friendly options when it comes to air travel.

“When we started BARK in 2011, we were on a mission to disrupt the dog space and create products designed for dogs and their humans. We are excited to take the insights we’ve learned over the years to create an experience that is truly dog-first, which is drastically different from just accepting dogs — from the ground to the skies,” said Matt Meeker, co-founder and chief executive officer at BARK.
“We believe this initiative will elevate awareness of our brand’s mission and values, introduce more dog lovers to the BARK family, and help enrich the lives of dogs and their people around the world,” he continued.
The company offers white-glove service to pets, trying to make the experience as comfortable as possible for both pets and their human companions. BARK Air will utilize the following methods to ensure this.
Before boarding, dog passengers can meet their fellow furry passengers. They will also be treated to a plane cabin prepared with calming pheromones, music, calming treats, noise-canceling ear protections, and calming jackets so dogs can enjoy their travel experience.
USA Today reports that the flight and experience are costly. At the moment, a ticket for one dog and their human will cost at least $6,000 one way. However, BARK Air did address these prices on its website’s FAQ page, stating, “Our goal over time is to bring the ticket cost down significantly as we scale.”
According to Fox Business, BARK Air will begin its flight service on May 23 from Westchester County Airport, Los Angeles’s Van Nuys Airport, and London’s Stansted Airport. A BARK Air spokeswoman claims the company is partnering with Talon Air, which will handle all the flights and allow dog passengers the ride of a lifetime.
