Barnes & Noble Seeks to Ward Off Any Takeover Bids

Barnes & Noble has adopted a so-called "poison pill" provision to discourage attempts by any parties to accumulate a large percentage of shares in the company's stock. Recently, Ron Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. upped its stake of shares in the bookseller from ten to 17 percent.
