The Biden administration and members of Congress agree that severe limitations on the use of TikTok will be required, if not an outright ban. Political leaders and security experts are concerned that the Chinese government may access the personal data of Americans collected by the video-sharing app. ByteDance, the parent of TikTok, is based in China.
