Both customers and Walmart employees need to sign up for the membership plan in order to activate it. The main difference is that Walmart employees do not have to pay for the membership once they sign up.  And according to Walmart’s official membership website, the perks are listed here:

  • Free deliveries: Whenever purchasing in-stock items online from your closest store ($35 minimum purchase applies).
  • Free shipping: Whenever you make online purchases (no minimum) from Walmart directly (not third-party sellers on marketplace).
  • Walmart Rewards: These points add up and allow for future savings.
  • Gasoline discounts: 10¢ discount per gallon at over 14,000+ specified locations.
  • Mobile scan & go: Shop by scanning items with your phone in-store to checkout contact-free.
  • Returns from home: This allows you to leave certain items outside your door to be picked up with no printing, packaging, or dropping off.
  • Early access: Members are granted special discounts, promotions, and other exclusive deals.
  • Pluto TV streaming: Access to a select variety of streaming content that’s ad-free on the platform.
  • Paramount+ streaming: Members gain a free full subscription to the streaming service and its entire catalog.

As you can see, there are numerous benefits to the plan that make it a great value overall. Although Walmart is a little late playing catch-up to Amazon Prime, and lacks in comparison, Walmart Plus is still a worthwhile investment for anyone who shops at Walmart regularly.  Signing up is easy on the main page which includes a free 30-day trial. But for employees of Walmart, it’s a completely different process.

All employees who have been with the company at least 90 days can access Walmart Plus for free, however, this excludes temporary employees, unfortunately. Also, if you already have Walmart Plus before working for Walmart, you’ll need to cancel your preexisting membership. In order to sign up:

  1. Employees must be clocked in and use a designated work computer only.
  2. Search for W+ on the enrollment link.
  3. Once you click on W+, there will be three training videos you must watch for a total of 10 minutes.
  4. After you have watched the videos, click “Accept” at the bottom of the page, and you will be taken to a new page that congratulates you.
  5. Use your email address to sign up for the membership account.
  6. You might be shown a tax charge on your next paystub after signing up, but Walmart will credit you back that amount.
  7. You’re all done!

Walmart Plus For Associates Conclusion

Some might wonder if companies giving out free memberships is unfair. There’s nothing wrong with a company rewarding its employees with additional perks, especially when they’re related to the brand and business. If anything, employees should be thankful for any additional perks granted by their company, and be happy to take advantage of their special access.

Additionally, all employees have access to a Walmart Associate Discount Center where they can browse even more discounts being offered directly to them by nearly every brand. More perks include discounted cell phone plans, travel discounts, lower-priced attraction tickets, a car buying service, and more.

Finally, all employees are given a discount card that they can use to make purchases at a lower price after their first 90 days are complete. With all of these bonuses for their team, hopefully Walmart will work towards being one of the best companies to work for in retail.
