Blue Stripes x Nick DiGiovanni Break Record for World’s Largest Chocolate Bar

December 17, 2024

Blue Stripes, a trailblazer in sustainable chocolate, and celebrity chef Nick DiGiovanni have officially broken the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest chocolate bar.

The delicious chocolate creation measures 1,364 square feet. It was unveiled in Ecuador and surpassed the previous Guinness World Record of 1,257 square feet for the largest chocolate bar set in the Netherlands in 2020.

Crafting the bar took 12 hours. Together, DiGiovanni and the Blue Stripes team connected chocolate squares using melted chocolate as glue.

A press release shared a quote from Blue Stripes Founder Oded Brenner about the feat: “This was about more than just breaking a record. It was about spotlighting the challenges in the cacao industry and showing the world how we can reimagine chocolate, using every part of the cacao fruit to reduce waste, make additional value to the cacao farmers without the need to grow additional crop and create something extraordinary delicious and healthy.”

Celebrity Chef Nick DiGiovanni added, “I’ve always loved pushing boundaries with food and taking on record-breaking challenges — and when that’s paired with making an impact (distributing chocolate all over Ecuador) and educating the world on the cacao industry, it’s even more fun. I had so much fun in Ecuador and I can’t wait to continue my partnership with Blue Stripes to keep making waves in the culinary world.”

Why Did Blue Stripes and Nick DiGiovanni Embark On This Record-Breaking Venture?

Blue Stripes and Nick DiGiovanni worked together to take on this record-breaking achievement to raise awareness about the global cacao crisis. This particular project draws attention to the mission of Blue Stripes. The company uses the whole cacao, including the fruit and shell, in its products. Typically the shell is discarded during a traditional chocolate-making process.

Blue Stripes produces all of its whole cacao products in Ecuador. The country is one of the world’s leading producers of cacao and an innovator in the processing technologies of upcycling cacao fruit waste. After the record was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, the Blue Stripes team and DiGiovanni broke the bar into over 100,000 servings of chocolate and donated them to schools and community centers in Ecuador.

To celebrate this record-breaking achievement, Blue Stripes is launching a sweepstakes where customers have the opportunity to win a Blue Stripes Solid Gold Chocolate Bar worth $10,000 and a lifetime supply of Blue Stripes chocolate. The sweepstakes runs from Dec. 10, 2024, through Feb. 28, 2025.

Five second-place winners will win $500 of Blue Stripes’ products. No purchase is necessary to enter.
