BrucePac Recalls 10M Pounds of Ready-to-Eat Meat, Chicken Over Listeria
October 11, 2024
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced a recall of 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and chicken products over listeria fears.
A Durant, Oklahoma, production establishment named BrucePac is the producer of the meat products that has made the recall, according to a USDA-FSIS press release. The company has recalled approximately 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products that could have been infested with listeria.
These ready-to-eat food items were produced from June 19, 2024, to Oct. 8, 2024, and then shipped to establishments and distributors nationwide. Subsequently, these products were then distributed to restaurants and institutions. The problem was found after routine testing of the products produced by BrucePac tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The products subject to recall include the numbers 51205 or P-51205 inside or under the USDA mark of inspection. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
However, there is some concern that some of these products may have already been used and consumed. The USDA urges any establishment that has these products on their premises to check for the recalled numbers and either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
Information regarding product labels and the list of products will be provided when available. Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. For consumers who need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product, the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System can be accessed 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.
This recall comes on the heels of a major recall by Boar’s Head. The company, which produces deli meats, faced a U.S. Department of Agriculture recall after a sample of Maryland-sourced Boar’s Head liverwurst tested positive for listeria. Per the USDA, Boar’s Head removed 100 tons of its deli meats, including liverwurst products that might have been contaminated with the listeria bacteria.
