Here’s Why Buffalo Wild Wings Named a Platter After Heisman Trophy Winner Travis Hunter
December 25, 2024
Buffalo Wild Wings has announced a one-of-a-kind promotion with rising football star and Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter. The collaboration features a unique platter offering with Hunter’s favorite things. Let’s take a look at what we know about this new offering.
Buffalo Wild Wings Teamed Up With Hunter for the Newest ‘Combo’
Buffalo Wild Wings has long positioned itself as the best sports bar, particularly when it comes to football, which is closely linked to chicken wings. On Super Bowl Sunday, more people eat wings than on any other day of the year, perhaps because they are easy to share and customize, making them a favorite at casual get-togethers. On that day this year, 1.45 billion wings were eaten, according to the National Chicken Council.
And according to Nation’s Restaurant News, the marriage of football and chicken wings has continued. In honor of Travis Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, winning the Heisman Trophy, the chicken chain was running a special promotion.
For $19.99, you were able to get 15 boneless wings, five chicken tenders, a big order of fries, and five dips with the Travis Hunter Combo. It was only accessible through the chain’s app or website and Buffalo Wild Wings Go, the brand’s takeaway and delivery service, until Dec. 23.
According to BWW’s promotional materials, Hunter is only the third non-quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy this century. He was recognized for his exceptional offensive and defensive skills, which allowed him to play two positions, hence the combination lunch. Because of his position at cornerback, he became only the second full-time defensive athlete to win the Heisman.
Countless Promotions From the Chicken Chain
The nationwide chicken chain has always been the first to develop clever promotions to entice new customers. In October, the restaurant unveiled its Pick 6 Meal Deal, which includes two entrees, two sides, and two drinks.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Buffalo Wild Wings offers six classic wings, 10 boneless wings, three hand-breaded chicken tenders, the All-American Cheeseburger, and the Classic Chicken Sandwich as entrée options. Customers can choose between potato wedges, tater tots, or french fries as sides.
“We wanted to create an unbeatable offer with our most popular menu items that doesn’t compromise on quality or customization,” said Tristan Meline, chief marketing officer at Buffalo Wild Wings, in a statement. “It gives our fans more of what they crave, for less. Whether you’re looking for a double-stacked, hand-smashed cheeseburger or wings tossed in any of our 26 iconic sauces and dry rubs, you can receive two full meals for just $19.99 at B-Dubs.”
Other specials offered by the restaurant include $8.99 packages that come with fries and either boneless or regular wings. Customers who use Buffalo Wild Wings GO to order takeaway or delivery on Tuesdays can receive BOGO 50% off regular wings. On Thursdays, there are BOGO-free boneless wings available for takeout and delivery if you’re a boneless wings fan. Lastly, when completing online orders with Buffalo Wild Wings GO, consumers may use the promo code GOBONELESS and receive 10 complimentary boneless wings when they spend $15 or more on takeaway or delivery.
Buffalo Wild Wings also launched an all-you-can-eat boneless wings and fries promotion in May that lasted until July and cost $19.99.
