Burger King Offers 1-Cent Cheeseburger for Tax Day Promotion
April 14, 2025
Fans of fast-food chain Burger King certainly have something to celebrate this week. Starting April 14 and throughout a promotional period ending April 20, BK fans can snag a flame-grilled cheeseburger for just a penny — provided they also abide by the other terms common to the offer.
“All week long! Take a break from filing with a juicy, flame-grilled Cheeseburger for 1¢ with $1+ purchase,” the company’s website proclaimed beneath an advertisement backing the deal.
For starters, the offer is only available via online ordering, either through the Burger King app or through the official bk.com website. The promotion can be found via the “Offers” tab in the fast-food chain’s app or through the same tab located at the bottom of the website’s landing page. Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories were exempted from the deal, and price and participation may also vary. Also, those interested in satisfying their hunger at their local Burger King will need to be a part of the chain’s Royal Perks program.
In order to take down the extremely cheap cheeseburger, Burger King loyalists will also need to place an order of $1 or greater to qualify. As The U.S. Sun pointed out, you could add the 1-cent cheeseburger to a regularly priced cheeseburger combo — priced at $3.49 before tax — to enjoy a double-burger combo for only $3.50 pre-tax.
Other inexpensive options include a plethora of side orders, including jalapeno cheddar bites, chicken nuggets, soft-serve ice cream, or cookies.
Burger King 1-Cent Cheeseburger Deal Joins Krispy Kreme, Shake Shack Offers for Tax Day
A variety of news outlets, including USA Today, suggested that this latest promotion is intentionally timed to coincide with Tax Day, which falls on April 15. A number of other restaurants and convenience stores are also joining in to provide attractive cost-cutting deals to customers.
On Tax Day, Krispy Kreme is offering a second Original Glazed dozen of doughnuts — priced only at the level of taxes in each respective state — to those who order a dozen at full price. Online orders can see a “TAXBREAK” code applied to take advantage of this offer.
“We know how stressful tax season can be, so we’re making the last day to file your taxes a little sweeter with this great offer,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme chief growth officer, in a news release.
Shake Shack is offering a free Black Truffle burger, fries, or shroom with a minimum $10.40 order, and 7-Eleven is offering discounted delivery. Casey’s is offering a large pizza “pizza refund” that amounts to a BOGO deal, and Hooters is serving up discounted appetizers.
